Adipec ... the show is set to break records

THE 15th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec) 2012 taking place at the new state-of-the-art Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) from November 11 to 14 promises to be more engaging than ever.

The event, this year, will host the largest conference for the region and is all set to break records as over 1,600 companies from 91 countries exhibit in a total net exhibition space of 38,000 sq m and welcome over 45,000 attendees at the new refurbished Adnec venue.

With 14 national pavilions, Adipec exhibition will now fill all 12 indoor halls in addition to featuring a new unique outdoor exhibition, packed with equipment for the offshore market along with heavy machinery – also a first for the region’s oil and gas show.

Held under the patronage of the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and organised by dmg :: events, Adipec has played a significant role in positioning Abu Dhabi as a key destination for the oil and gas industry.  “Abu Dhabi is at the heart of the oil and gas industry … We believe Adipec is supporting the growth of the industry as well as creating significant business tourism within the city of Abu Dhabi and the UAE as a whole,” says Kimon Alexandrou, commercial director, dmg energy group.

Having grown substantially since its launch in 1984, Adipec, the largest oil and gas exhibition in the Middle East and the third biggest event of its kind in the world, has been enhanced and expanded in light of continued development in the sector.

“As the market’s need for oil and gas technologies has increased within the region so has the demand for Adipec,” says Alexandrou.

Running alongside Adipec is the region’s largest conference organised in conjunction with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). The four-day conference will see more than 300 speakers in the technical programme alone, 50 technical sessions, five key panel sessions and two executive sessions. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from and network with some of the most influential figures within the industry.

INTERNATIONAL APPEAL
Adipec 2012 will feature a bigger attendance of national oil companies (NOCs) and international oil companies (IOCs) than any event in the region, with some of the best known names in the industry participating. The event will feature the participation of some of the biggest companies in the industry, including the host sponsor Adnoc and strategic sponsor Ardeco, platinum sponsors ExxonMobil, Jogmec, KPC, Oilserv and Total, as well as gold sponsors Jodco, OMV, Oxy and Statoil.

NEW ADDITIONS
A number of additions are in store for this year’s exhibition, including the first Adipec museum – the first public museum archiving the achievements of the UAE oil and gas industry from the 1930s through to the modern day.

This year’s exhibition also brings the broader GCC region to Abu Dhabi with the introduction of country briefings featuring key industry figures and companies. The country briefings will serve as a key platform to assist international businesses to enter GCC markets, while promoting awareness of local regulations, trends and best practices.

In addition, Adipec brings the Adipec Awards, which recognise organisations that have been most successful in setting new standards of excellence within the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) oil and gas sector.
