AYTB’s O&M team with the 2016 Contractor Safety Excellence Award

Since the inception of the company, AYTB’s Operation and Maintenance division has been registering steady growth offering value added services to its clients

AYTB (Al Yusr Industrial Contracting Co), a 100 per cent Saudi integrated group providing a range of services and solutions, is striving to provide its clients with competitive quality in products and services in a safe manner.

The group’s efforts have been recognised by various stakeholders through awards and repeat orders.

Each project is taken up with the concept of partnering with the clients, says a spokesman for AYTB, which was established in 1979.

VISION 2030

AYTB sees Saudi Vision 2030 as the vehicle that would bring about massive economic, industrial, social, and cultural changes to the kingdom. It would also open new horizons for a big number of opportunities. This is why AYTB’s CEO Kevin Hudson had clearly emphasised the importance of bundling all efforts to better serve the Saudi market.

Client expectations and priorities are clearly understood and all activities are planned and executed towards the same objectives ensuring HSE compliance, quality and schedule compliance, he says.

O&M

Since the inception of the company, AYTB’s Operation and Maintenance division has been registering steady growth offering value added services to its clients in the hydrocarbon processing, fertilisers and metals sectors.

'We work with our customers to deliver ‘Tailor-made’ maintenance solutions that support their needs and expectations. The critical success factor for AYTB has been its consistent performance in the areas of safety, quality and cost-effectiveness,' he says.

AYTB attributes its success to its technically competent workforce and leadership. 'We take pride when our personnel step up to resolve technical problems at our customer’s worksite whether it is a critical reliability issue, process safety or asset integrity issue,' he says.

AYTB’s operation and maintenance leadership are professional engineers with long years of maintenance experience with additional certification in reliability, safety etc. The fact that AYTB has been a chosen partner to several clients with many contracts being renewed and continued over a decade speaks of the quality of services AYTB O&M has been rendering to its clients, he continues.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

The strength of an organisation lies in its management systems, skill and dedication of its workforce. AYTB is a learning organisation with emphasis on training and development of its workforce. AYTB has developed a skill matrix for its personnel, who achieve skill compliance through internal and external training.

The company’s Centre for Excellence workshop is equipped with pumps, motors, gear boxes and instrumentation test equipment to impart practical training. AYTB’s in-house subject experts have developed standard maintenance procedures (SMPs) which form the necessary input for employee training and which includes participating in direct training initiatives on and off the field.

'This brings a sense of belonging among our workforce, improves employee morale and instills an urge to excel. AYTB believes in inclusive growth where its leadership constantly keeps open communication with its workforce through various Town Hall meetings, seeks feedbacks and rewards the right behaviour.

GOLD AWARDS

AYTB’s O&M division has achieved several safety milestones through result-oriented safety initiatives. In 2015, AYTB was selected as the best safety performer among all Sabic contractors evaluated across the world and was presented the prestigious Gold Award.

One of our major maintenance projects at Al Jubail Petrochemical complex, achieved 10 million safe man-hours with no lost time injury since the beginning of the contract. AYTB’s safety performance is a direct result of its employees’ safety awareness, culture and the leadership commitment enforcing compliance to safety policies and procedure.

'We understand that every engagement at our operating facility throws up a new hazardous situation. Understanding the hazards prior to each such engagement and taking corrective and preventive steps to mitigate the danger result in lasting safety performance. Our supervision understands this aspect and participates in task risk analysis, onsite safety review and safety audit process for compliance,' he says.

HOW IT IS DONE

Overall maintenance cost-effectiveness comes from the quality of service and the productivity of personnel. AYTB’s employees deal with the maintenance of critical assets in an operating plant. Here the competency of the workforce results in ensuring functional reliability of assets once they are handed over to operation. Availability of assets to the production process is the key to overall manufacturing cost-effectiveness. 'Our supervisory staff understands the importance of planning, scheduling and work preparation as an effective means to ensure productivity and resource utilisation. Our planners, supervisors and schedulers are experienced and utilise client ERP platforms to ensure effective execution of the maintenance work processes.

AYTB has the experience in setting up the required infrastructure, site workshop, tools and equipment so as to support routine maintenance and unplanned and planned outages. AYTB’s O&M division has been handling specialised and comprehensive work such as complete recoiling of cracker furnaces, overhauling of large turbomachinery, complete stripping and re-traying of columns, re-tubing of exchangers, insitu machining jobs as well as plant modifications. In AYTB its various divisions mutually complement to provide a one-stop shop for its customers’ plant maintenance needs.
