Terra uses drones for modelling

Terra Drone Indonesia took part in implementing the Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) programme, especially in the topographic mapping and building modelling using drones.

The programme was initiated by Monash University in collaboration with the University of Hasanudin. The mapping activity with the drone was completed in 11 selected residential locations in the city of Makassar, South Sulawesi, from February to March 2019.

RISE programme itself is a testing programme with Water Sensitive Cities approach in 24 urban slums in Indonesia and Fiji, which aims to prove that a holistic approach to neighborhood revitalisation using nature-based systems – such as constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment, and improved drainage and access – can improve health and the environment.

The application of the Water Sensitive Cities (WSC) approach is expected to reduce fecal contamination of the environment and improve the health of children under 5 years of age. This programme will run for five years in two countries, and directly involve more than 20 institutions, two of which are Monash University and University of Hasanuddin.

The results of aerial photographs captured by drone are needed to provide information about the existing conditions (baseline) of buildings, sanitation systems, drainage, and other objects which are then made plans for building facilities with natural-based solutions in the selected settlements.

Aerial photography using drones has become a standard in various jobs because it provides detailed information from an area so that it helps the measurement process as well as the development of detailed concepts and plans. The resulting data becomes a global reference system and technically can be processed for other purposes.

Terra Drone Corporation is the world’s leading provider of industrial drone solutions established in 2016. The company’s head office is located in Tokyo, Japan, with 20 branches globally throughout APAC, the European Union, and South America.
